A relatively mild 3.0 magnitude earthquake shook the New York metropolitan area Saturday night. The earthquake hit in the New Jersey suburb of Hasbrouck Heights at a depth of about 6.2 miles (10 kilometers) and was felt fairly widely in northern New Jersey,

The quake's epicenter was in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. No injuries or structural damage was reported shortly afterward, said Jonathan Tytell, a geophysicist at the USGS.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said the tremor with a magnitude of 3.0 hit in the New Jersey suburb of Hasbrouck Heights, less than 8 miles (13 kilometers) west of Central Park, at a depth of about 6.2 miles (10 kilometers).
