A familiar face will be returning to the Special Victims Unit full time next season. Kelli Giddish's Amanda Rollins will be back as a series regular on "Law & Order: SVU" in Season 27, TODAY.com has confirmed.

Giddish originally joined “SVU” back in its 13th season as detective Amanda Rollins. She remained with the show as a main cast member until midway through Season 24. It was explained on the show that Rollins had married ADA Sonny Carisi Jr and then taken a teaching position.

Giddish, who's first appearance as Det. Amanda Rollins on SVU was in season 13, is returning to the fan-favorite NBC procedural crime drama full-time for its upcoming 27th season. The former detective-turned-professor has appeared as a guest star in multiple episodes for both season 25 and 26 after her surprise exit in the middle of season 24.
