On Wednesday, the Golden State Valkyries — the WNBA’s first expansion team since 2008 — will take to the court for the first time when they face the Los Angeles Sparks at Chase Center in their first preseason game.

The pre-game and post game shows will also be available streaming on CBS News Bay Area The Valkyries will be playing at Chase Center but their headquarters is in Oakland.

Nakase most recently served as an assistant with the Aces, winning back-to-back WNBA titles in 2022 and ’23. Prior to that, she worked in the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers, most recently as an assistant coach and player development coach with the G League Agua Caliente Clippers.
