Since its discovery three days ago, it has burned 65,062 acres, an increase of 15,301 acres since the last update. By Monday morning, the fire crew effectively contained 3% of this fire. The blaze's cause remains under investigation.

– The Gifford Fire has burned approximately 49,761 acres in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties and is 3% contained as of 7:30 p.m. Sunday, down from 5% earlier in the day, according to fire officials.

The blaze injured three people, put hundreds under evacuation orders and threatened 460 structures, officials said.
