Annual National Night Out events will take place all across the country on Aug. 5 to promote a positive relationship between law enforcement and members of the communities they serve. Several towns throughout North Jersey will take part,

According to the National Night Out website, the annual event is meant to be a community-building campaign promoting partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. It was introduced in 1984 through a network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations and volunteers.

The events offer residents opportunities to connect with local law enforcement and emergency services personnel.
