Nottingham Forest footballer Taiwo Awoniyi has been placed into an induced coma and is receiving intensive care following emergency surgery. Awoniyi collided with a post during Forest’s 2-2 draw with Leicester on Sunday afternoon and initially continued playing after being treated on the field.

The incident was cited as the source of frustration for Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, who stormed onto the pitch and confronted head coach Nuno Espirito Santo after the match.
