Residents were inside of both homes at the time of the crash, but firefighters say they were able to make it out unharmed.

A kit-built plane crashed in Simi Valley, killing two passengers and a dog. It was the second crash of that model aircraft in the last five months.

According to local authorities, a May 3 Simi Valley plane crash involving a small aircraft resulted in the deaths of its two passengers, in addition to a fire and damage to two Wood Ranch homes.
